Letters To My Nieces

There is so much I want to pass on to my nieces…family stories, anecdotes, learning experiences and reminders of their childhood and mine. I came across a handful of letters that my grandfather, mom and dad wrote to me many years ago. These letters have greater meaning now that I’m older. While family letters are personal, I don’t want to place the burden on my nieces to have to carry a shoe box full of letters. They will grow and have grown up responsibilities, the letters may end up in a closet (like mine). Here, in my technological space, they can read and re-read them now and again later, if they wish. And maybe, if you happen to visit my site, the letters will inspire you to leave memories for a loved one. I asked my nieces for permission and they agreed to make these dedicated letters public. And now that I recall, both my mom and dad used to tease me, that one day, I would write and publish their story. I’m not referring to a love story, although there was a lot of love, but the kind of stories that families shared at the dinner table or “la sobre mesa” as it was called then.

So much to write, best to get started.
